Presidential Car Zachary Taylor With Commemorative Button Road #: 1849-1850 40' Standard Box Car, Plug Door, w/o Roofwalk
This 40’ standard box car with plug door and no roofwalk is car #18 of a 44-car series representing each of the presidents of the United States. It bears the portrait of our 12th president, Zachary Taylor. The car comes with a commemorative pin replicated from that era. Although a plantation owner in MS, Taylor did not defend slavery or southern sectionalism; 40 years in the Army made him a strong nationalist. He spent a quarter of a century policing the frontiers against Indians. In the Mexican War he won major victories at Monterrey and Buena Vista.
