...And the National Railroad Passenger Corporation known as Amtrak is about to take over commercial rail travel in the United States. Having a fleet comprised entirely of inherited locomotives and rolling stock, Amtrak had former Pennsylvania/Penn Central EMD E8A #4316 painted into a special livery to commemorate their rst day of operations. Once more uniform branding was developed, this locomotive was renumbered to 322 and continued to serve Amtrak until it’s retirement in 1981.
