J.B Hunt entered the intermodal market in 1989 after forming a partnership with the Santa Fe to provide door-to-door service between Chicago and California. Their intermodal division grew quickly, and Hunt began to form partnerships with all the major railroads. Today J.B. Hunt has one of the largest domestic container fleet, with over 65,000 units.
