Built in 1950 by Bethlehem Steel, this Lehigh Valley drop-end 50’ gondola with Bettendorf trucks was part of a 500-car series. The Lehigh Valley Railroad was founded in 1846 and headquartered in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. It was known for shipping anthracite coal from Pennsylvania mines, but also carried general freight. It operated until 1976 when it was absorbed by the Conrail merger. Much of the remaining trackage is owned by Norfolk Southern, today.
