This 3-bay covered hopper with elongated hatches is grey with green band and runs on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Formed in 1983, the Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern is a regional freight railroad operating 300 miles of track in eastern Pennsylvania. Sometimes shortened to just “Reading & Northern,” the railroad primarily transports coal, but also operates a fleet of general service freight cars to service various industries along the way.

From the 700 series, WIF 722 is a 40’ double-sheathed wood reefer with brown roof and ends and yellow sides. Rebuilt December 1955 by the Fruit Growers Express at their Jacksonville, Florida shops, the West India Fruit and Steamship Company operated a railroad car ferry service between Palm Beach, Florida and Ravanna, Cuba during Fulgencio Batista times.

This 50’ standard box car with plug door and no roofwalk is painted with red, white and blue stripes down the length of the sides with square black, white and red logo, and white Magcobar herald. Lettering is black with the exception of the red door lettering. It was built in June 1964 and runs on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Magcobar, a division of Dresser Industries, is an oil field services company which provides a substantial amount of drilling fluids to the oil industry. Much of this arrives in the form of dry drilling “mud” which is shipped in sacks in Magcobar’s fleet of leased insulated box cars.

MTL-055 00 440 PGE 33' Twin Bay Hopper

This 33' twin bay hopper with offset side is painted brown with black and white logo, white reporting marks and lettering. It was built in October 1956 and ran trans-Canada in the 1950s on Roller Bearing trucks. The Pacific Great Eastern Railway (PGE), was a railway that operated in the Canadian province of British Columbia. It as a class II regional railway and the third-largest in Canada, eventually operating 1,441 miles of mainline track. It was owned by the provincial government starting in 1918, became British Columbia Railway (BCR) in 1972, and BC Rail (BCR) in 1984. In 2004 the operations were sold to the Canadian National Railway.

This 33' twin bay hopper with rib sides is painted black with the white 'Iron Cross' logo and white lettering. It was built in 1909 and runs on Bettendorf trucks. The Irwin Gas Coal Basin is an area in Westmoreland and Venango Counties, Pennsylvania. It encompasses the townships of North Huntingdon, Penn, Sewickley, Salem, South Huntingdon, Hempfield and Irwin, and the boroughs of Murrysville, Export and Delmont. The coal mined in the district was unsuitable for use as coke. However, it was ideal for gasification and conversion into coal gas. Penn Gas Coal Co. was on of seven companies that dominated the Irwin Basin.

This 50’ Standard Box car with Plug door and no roofwalk has yellow sides, black ends and an aluminum roof. It bears blue and white lettering and runs on black Barber roller bearing trucks. Napierville Junction Railway was the corporate arm of the Delaware & Hudson Railway in Canada. It operated some 28 miles of line between the US border at Rouses Point, NY and a junction with the CP and CN at St. Constant, Quebec, 20 miles southwest of Montreal. Canadian Pacific absorbed the NJ reporting mark into their listings by 1992 when it purchased D&H.
