Operation North Pole (ONP) is a volunteer-based public charity. ONP works with Chicago’s major children’s hospitals, providing a day of fun and fantasy for families who have a child battling a life threatening illness by hosting a fantasy trip to the North Pole. The magical experience includes, breakfast, a festive train ride to the North Pole, a visit with Santa, winter wonderland fun, entertainment, treats, personal wish list gifts, and much more! It's ONP's goal to provide these families an unforgettable experience amidst very challenging times.
 
Kato USA has partnered with Operation North Pole to bring this special Christmas Train - a replica of the real life Christmas Train that was operated in 2015 to life as a means to support ONP's goal of spreading the magic of the holidays.
 
To that end a portion of the proceeds from every sale of an Operation North Pole Christmas Train Set goes towards this charitable venture to help fund the chartering of this yearly train!

Unlike our past release of the Daylight, which represented a later look at the train, our rerun will represent the early 1940’s “as delivered” look of the Daylight where it ran under the name “Southern Pacific Lines.” 

Kato will be re-releasing the N Scale 4449 in her recognizable Daylight Southern Pacific “Lines” paint scheme in N Scale. This DCC friendly locomotive includes revised drives for a smoother ride. Add the 10 Car Passenger set, along with four copies of the add-on to create the full 1940’s 18-car Daylight consist! Considered to be “The Most Beautiful Train in the World,” model railroaders of all ages will enjoy displaying this masterpiece on their layout.

This “Morning Daylight” consist ran between Los Angeles and San Francisco along the beautiful California coast, past cities such as Ventura, Santa Barbara, Salinas and San Jose. Heading up the “Morning Daylight” was the specially built steam locomotive, the GS-4, one of the most well known steam engines ever built.

When Amtrak took over the Santa Fe's "Super Chief" train, it originally retained the name of the classic silver streamlined service. In 1974, the name was changed from "Super Chief" to "Southwest Limited", a name it retained for 10 years before becoming the 'Southwest Chief". Like the Super Chief, the Southwest Limited was made up of a mixture of ACF, Pullman and Budd-built stainless steel cars, the same basic consist as the original Santa Fe Train. Like the Santa Fe had done before it, Amtrak combined the ex-Super Chief and ex-El Capitan Hi-level cars in its Southwest Limited service, the single-level cars being used as the 1st class portion of the consist.

The ACS-64, also known as the "Amtrak Cities Sprinter", is Amtrak's replacement of the aging AEM-7 and HHP-8 electric locomotives for operation in the Northeast and Keystone Corridors. Built by Siemens and based on the EuroSprinter European electric locomotive design, the Cities Sprinter is nonetheless a unique model to North America and is built entirely in the United States. The Prototype, entering service as of February 2014, is meant to pull as many as 18 Amfleet cars at speeds of up to 125 miles per hour!

The Water Tenders will be an all-new design and will be sold as a two-pack for modelers to supplement their FEF-3 or other UP steam locomotives. Just like the prototype models, the two tenders are not identical, having (in addition to one car having an externally mounted American Flag plate) different weld mark details which will be replicated on the models of the two cars, ensuring that their unique spirit is preserved when translated into model form. An optional DCC-friendly headlight PCB will be available to allow the tender’s lights to be illuminated as well!
